Jaison Oliver is the founder of Edvents, an education technology company devoted to expanding professional development opportunities for educators through conferences. In addition to his work as a professional tutor, he has taught math and science at the secondary level in California and Texas. Jaison has also taught internationally in La Cucarita, Dominican Republic and Lomé, Togo.
As the Assistant Director of the Engineering, Math & Science Institute at The Kinkaid School in Houston Jaison connects local public school students with an immersive summer STEAM learning experience. Prior to this role, he worked with the education technology nonprofit Reasoning Mind to build sustainable partnerships with education agencies across the nation. He has spoken at various conferences on professional development requirements for proper blended learning implementation, and now focuses his advocacy efforts on Edcamps, Twitter, and other free or low-cost PLN-building activities. He seeks to be a resource for new and experienced educators looking to better serve their students. Jaison is a Detroit native and an alumnus of Yale University. |
