Elvira G. Deyamport, Ed.S. is a Gifted Education teacher for grades 2-6 at Thames Elementary School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Elvira has a specialist degree in Reading Instruction, a master’s in Gifted Education, and a dual bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Spanish. Prior to gifted, she taught second grade and elementary Spanish. In the gifted classroom, she incorporates technology tools like Skype, Blogger, Twitter, Edmodo, and various Apple Applications. Her philosophy revolves around using this technology to expose and connect her students to a variety of people, places, and authentic learning experiences. Elvira is also a connected educator who is passionate about sharing her love for technology integration with others in her field. She has served as the Chair of the Technology Committee for the Mississippi Association for Gifted Children, where she managed the Facebook Group Page. She has also contributed to Byrdseed TV, a digital hub of video tutorials made by teachers and for teachers of the gifted. Finally, she enjoys leading technology workshops and presentations for her school site, other school districts, as well as state and national gifted and technology conferences. Two of her most recognized presentations have been her keynote on The Greatest Stories Never Told: Using Social Media and Web Tools to Showcase Learning at the 2015 T.G.I.F. Conference for the Mississippi University for Women and Skype in the Gifted Classroom at the 2011 Convention of the National Association for Gifted Children. |
